چکیده

To satisfy their main goal, namely providing quality water to consumers, distribution networks (WDNs) need be suitably monitored. Only well designed and reliable monitoring data enables WDN managers make sound decisions on systems. In this belief, utilities worldwide have invested in acquisition However, good needs optimal sensor placement presents a multi-objective problem where cost are conflicting objectives (among others). paper, we address the solution by integrating simulations using EPANET-MSX, with two optimization techniques. First, is used build Pareto front of non-dominated solutions relating contamination detection time probability cost. assist decision makers selection an that provides best trade-off for utility, multi-criteria decision-making technique then twofold objective: 1) cluster according network sensitivity entropy as evaluation parameters; 2) rank within each provide deeper insight into when considering utility perspectives. The clustering process, which considers features related available information, helps select useful from front. Thus, while several works stop at optimization, work goes step further reduced simplified highlighted. The proposed methodology uses NSGA-II algorithm solve problem, performed through ELECTRE TRI. developed applied very well-known benchmarking WDN, usefulness approach shown. final results, correspond four clusters, during planning development projects sensors. obtained clusters exhibit distinctive features, opening ways project prioritize most convenient solution, assurance implementing Pareto-optimal solution.

A multi-objective optimization approach to optimal sensor placement of irregular LSF structures

In recent years, lightweight steel framed (LSF) structures are designed to resist fire, earthquakes, and storm events. This system has entered the field of construction due to advantages of light members. Based on these advantages, such a system is also used for buildings with special importance. Structural health monitoring (SHM) implements a damage detection and characterization strategy for ...

A Multi-objective Optimisation Approach to IDS Sensor Placement

This paper investigates how intrusion detection system (IDS) sensors should best be placed on a network when there are several competing evaluation criteria. This is a computationally difficult problem and we show how Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithms provide an excellent means of searching for optimal placements.

Multi-objective Sensor Network Placement Model for Integrated Monitoring of Hydraulic and Water Quality Parameters

1. Abstract Near real-time continuous monitoring systems have been proposed as a promising approach for helping drinking water utilities detect and respond quickly to threats related to the normal operation of the water network. Water quality sensors may detect contamination events that pose a growing threat to public health, while pressure and flow sensors are used for estimating the hydraulic...

a novel approach for water quality management in water distribution systems by multi-objective booster chlorination

compared to conventional chlorination methods which apply chlorine at water treatment plant, booster chlorination has almost solved the problems of high dosages of chlorine residuals near water sources and lack of chlorine residuals in the remote points of a water distribution system (wds). however, control of trihalomethane (thm) formation as a potentially carcinogenic disinfection by-product ...
